Now you must be understanding how to use activities that are done as a routine to develop mindfulness or in other words, to bring the mind to the present moment.
Try practicing this while washing. At one level you can be aware of the washing process as a whole allowing the mind to guide you through the steps related to washing and wiping etc. If time permits try to observe the thoughts that keep coming while you wash. Some thoughts can be comments about the state of the object you wash and other thoughts can be related to the degree of cleanliness that emerges or about the steps that need to be taken while washing. This can be tried out when washing dishes or washing the car.
